We made it to Connecticut — and yes, we actually arrived in time for the big Cornhole Tournament, which was the day’s top priority.
Our run through New York Harbor on Sunday was… let’s call it “sporty.” A full sailboat race was underway, which meant the harbor was packed with boats zig‑zagging in every direction. Add ferries, tour boats, and a few captains who apparently navigate by vibes alone, and it turned into a real test of our boating skills. I’m happy to report: we did just fine.
Monday brought a much calmer ride up the East River — smooth water, light traffic, and a chance to breathe again. Until the clunk.
Somewhere along the way, the starboard side hit something. We didn’t see anything in the water, but we definitely heard it, and the vibration that followed told us the running gear wasn’t happy. Could be a dinged prop… or, based on my extensive knowledge of New York crime movies, it could be Jimmy Hoffa wrapped around the shaft. Hard to say.
So while we’re in Connecticut, we’ll haul the boat out and take a look. Perfect timing anyway — we’re doing a few upgrades, catching up with family and friends, and enjoying being back in familiar waters.
If all goes well, we’ll be back on the Loop by Tuesday. Until then, we’ll be tossing cornhole bags and hoping the prop isn’t shaped like a potato chip.
